How to convert OBJ to 3MF
- Drop the
.objand, if there is one, its.mtlfile at the same time. - Untick objects you don't need.
- Keep 3MF selected and click Download 3MF.
What carries over
- Objects (
o) and groups (g) become separate objects in the 3MF. - Colours from the MTL's diffuse colour (
Kd) are stored per triangle. Bambu Studio reads them and offers to map them to your filaments; in other slicers assign extruders per object. - Units: OBJ has none. Values are taken as millimetres — if your model was made in metres or inches, scale it in the slicer.
Textures, normals and UV maps are not needed for printing and are dropped.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my colours missing?
Drop the .mtl together with the .obj. Colours that come only from texture images are not converted.
Can I convert several OBJ files at once?
Yes. Drop them together and they become objects in one 3MF, or tick One file per object.
Is my model uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser.
