How to move a Bambu project to another slicer
- Drop the Bambu Studio or MakerWorld
.3mfabove. - If the project has several plates, choose the plate you want from the Plate menu.
- Keep 3MF selected and download. Open the new file in PrusaSlicer, Cura, FlashPrint, Creality Print or any other slicer.
What changes in the converted file
- Kept: every printable object and part, their names, positions and filament colours.
- Flattened: objects stored in separate files inside the Bambu archive are written into one standard model file, so slicers without production-extension support see them.
- Removed: Bambu printer, filament and process profiles, plate thumbnails and slicing data — set these up for your own printer.
- Left out: modifier boxes, negative volumes and support blockers or enforcers. They only make sense with the original settings, which other slicers can't read.
Multi-colour projects
Objects and parts keep their filament colours, so a model made of several coloured parts arrives as several coloured parts. In your slicer, assign each colour to one of your printer's extruders or filament slots. Colour painted onto a surface with Bambu Studio's paint brush is not converted yet — those areas come out in the part's main colour.
If you only need the shapes
Choose STL and tick One file per object to get a separate STL for each part of the model, which every slicer accepts. See also 3MF for FlashForge printers.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't my MakerWorld 3MF open properly in PrusaSlicer or Cura?
Bambu Studio saves objects in separate files inside the 3MF and adds its own project settings. Recent PrusaSlicer versions can import the geometry, but parts, colours or plates are often lost, and other slicers may not open the file at all. A standard 3MF avoids those extensions.
Will print settings be transferred?
No. Layer height, speeds, supports and filament profiles are printer-specific and are removed. Use your own printer profile.
Can I convert only one plate?
Yes. Pick the plate in the Plate menu before downloading; only its objects are exported.
Does OrcaSlicer need this?
Usually not: OrcaSlicer reads Bambu projects directly. It helps when you want a clean file without the original printer profile, or to share a single plate.
