How to open a 3MF file online
- Drop the
.3mffile into the box above. - Rotate with the left mouse button, pan with the right one, zoom with the wheel. On a phone, use one and two fingers.
- Click an object in the list (or in the 3D view) to highlight it and zoom to it. Its size in millimetres is shown under the name.
What you can check before printing
- Plates — multi-plate Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer projects show a plate menu.
- Parts and colours — each object's parts with their filament colours, so you can see how many colours a MakerWorld model needs.
- Hidden volumes — turn on modifiers, negative volumes and support blockers to see where the designer changed settings.
- Size — width × depth × height of every object and of the whole selection, to check it fits your printer.
Need the model in another format afterwards? The same page exports STL, OBJ, GLB and standard 3MF.
Other ways to open 3MF files
On Windows, 3D Viewer and 3D Builder open simple 3MF files, but they may not be installed on newer PCs. Slicers such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura open 3MF files too, but they are large installs and may ask to load the designer's printer profile. A browser viewer is the quickest way to take a look.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a 3MF file without installing anything?
Yes. This viewer runs in any modern browser with WebGL: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop or mobile.
Does the viewer show print settings?
It shows what affects the geometry: objects, parts, plates, filament colours and modifier volumes. Slicer settings such as layer height or infill are not displayed.
Why does my 3MF look grey?
The file has no colour information for that object, or the colour was painted with the slicer's paint tool, which the viewer does not show yet.
Is there a size limit?
Only your device's memory. Projects with a few million triangles open fine on a typical laptop.
