How to edit a 3MF file
- Drop your
.3mfabove, or open the sample project. - In the list on the left, click ✎ to rename an object, 🗑 to delete it, and ▸ to see its parts. Parts have their own rename, delete and filament controls.
- Change filament colours in the Edit panel on the right. Every change shows in the 3D view; Undo steps back.
- Click Download edited 3MF — or Split to get one file per plate or per object.

What stays as it was
The editor works on the 3MF archive itself: it rewrites only the names, parts and colours you change and copies everything else byte for byte — print and filament settings, plates, per-object settings, paint-on supports and seams, thumbnails and any extra files the slicer stored. Two things are removed because they would no longer match: G-code inside a sliced project, and Bambu's cut-connector list after an object is deleted.
What it doesn't do
- Move, rotate or scale objects, or paint colours onto surfaces — that is slicer work.
- Update plate thumbnails: they refresh the next time the slicer saves the project.
- Merge two 3MF files into one.
Frequently asked questions
Will my print settings survive the edit?
Yes. Project settings, plate settings and per-object settings are copied unchanged; only the parts of the file that hold the names, parts and colours you edit are rewritten.
How do I change the colour of one part?
Expand the object with ▸ and pick another filament number for the part, or change that filament's colour in the Edit panel (which affects every part printed with it).
Can I edit a sliced .gcode.3mf?
You can, but the G-code inside is removed after an edit because it would no longer match the model. Slice the project again afterwards.
Can I edit STL or OBJ files here?
Yes: they are turned into a standard 3MF first, so you can rename, delete and recolour, then download a 3MF.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The 3MF is opened and edited by JavaScript in this browser tab; nothing is sent to a server.
