How to split a 3MF
- Drop your
.3mfabove. The plates and objects appear in the list on the left. - Optional: delete or rename objects first.
- Click Split. You get a ZIP with one 3MF per plate (projects with two or more plates) or one per object.
By plate or by object
- By plate — for Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer projects with two or more plates. Each file contains one plate with its objects, its name, prime tower position and thumbnail, renumbered as plate 1.
- By object — for single-plate projects, PrusaSlicer projects and standard 3MF files. Each object (with all its parts and copies) goes into its own file.
Objects from plate 2, 3 and so on are moved onto the first plate position, keeping their layout, so they sit on the bed when you open the file.
Need STL files instead?
Use the 3MF to STL converter with One file per object, or pick a plate there and export only that plate.
Frequently asked questions
Do the split files keep my print settings?
Yes. Every file is a copy of the original project with the other plates or objects removed, so printer, filament and process settings come along.
Why are the objects in a different place?
Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer place plate 2, 3 and so on next to the first plate. A file with a single plate only has the first position, so the objects are moved there. Their arrangement on the plate stays the same.
Can I split one object into its parts?
Not as separate files. Open the 3MF editor to delete or rename parts, or use your slicer's Split to parts.
Is there a size limit?
Only your computer's memory. Projects of a few hundred megabytes work in a desktop browser.
